Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 12) – Filipino Japanese golfer Yuka Saso is now the fifth best female golfer in the world, based on the latest women’s world golf rankings.
Saso achieved her career-best world ranking, after moving two notches higher from being the world No. 7.
Her previous career-high was world No. 6, which she attained on Sept. 2.
The 20-year-old golf star holds an average of 5.70 points, for a total of 222.37 points in 39 events played.
Saso was coming off from a joint fourth place finish in the Cognizant Founder Cup held in New Jersey, where she ended with a total of 10-under par 274.
Since winning the US Women’s Open title last June, Saso has been in the Top 10 of the women’s world golf rankings.
Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Nelly Korda is still world No.1 with 450.71 points. South Koreans Jin Young Ko, Inbee Park, and Sei Young Kim completed the top five female golfers in the world rankings.
